A false, familiar claim by the former president — that the contest in which he’s participating is “rigged” — has reached a fever pitch in this cycle.

This was a key thing he did which made it psychologically possible to launch a coup attempt on Jan. 6, so doubling down on it now suggests that he’s going to attempt something like it if he loses.

    I highly recommend the book The Road to Unfreedom: Russia, Europe, America by historian Timothy Snyder. It gives a much bigger picture of what is going on, what the goal is and how it is being accomplished.
