Honestly it was. I’m probably faster at typing on a qwerty touch screen now (I rarely actually use swype, though) than I would be if you handed me a T9 now, but that’s just due to more recent practice, I’d bet. My fingers flew across that numberpad back in the day. Lol
It was a pain in the ass to sext when you didn’t have a roll of quarters handy.

Also typing on these things was a pita when you have like 3 or 4 letters on each key
I remember when I got my first qwerty phone. I hated typing on it. So much easier with my t9
I think that T9 was faster and more accurate than swipe typing on a touch screen, that could just be me, though.
