Wouldn’t drop Havertz for this match tbh. His physicality will be needed. Unless Vieira has improved his strength, the Everton midfield will run rampant and overload Rice. I would have started Vieira in the UCL.

Wouldn’t drop either of them. May prove me wrong but I think the gaffer is wrong here honestly.

He is wrong. I think Ramsdale deserved the start. I would have saved Raya for the League Cup and the FA Cup. The bigger problem that has risen is the lack of physicality. There isn’t a huge gap between the GKs in terms of what they’d give today. But, the difference between Havertz and Vieira is where Everton could possibly have an exploit. You need a physical midfield with height when you go up against a Dyche team (especially on an away fixture). Onana, Gana, and Doucoure could easily knock Vieira off the ball and become counterattack threats. Dyche set-pieces are also established to expose height mismatches. We’ll need to match on height. We can when we have a person like Havertz. And this is coming from one of his biggest detractors. I’d take 1 or 2 mistakes in attack from him if he can give me 1 or 2 crucial clearance headers.
