Andy @ Wylderbuilds here.

That’s a pic of a really fun build, a whole-matrix 5x6 Dactyl Manuform with a SHINY black trackball, dual OLEDs, and dual rotary encoders. It’s a nice solid chunk of ergonomic keyboard.

But that’s not really why I’m here today.

I just wanted to post that I support the move of ErgoMechKeyboards to Lemmy. Reddit has gone the classic money-grab route, which is their “it’s just business” right, but it again undermines and diminishes the deeper value and promise of yet another social media platform as a means to create and maintain fully thriving communities of people, not just content.

That said, the hobbyist keyboard communities on Reddit were the de-facto places to post, advertise, discuss, and to reach out to other enthusiasts. Since the exodus began, I haven’t posted on Reddit and I look forward to participating here on Lemmy. But Wylderbuilds is my bread-and-butter and I want to be present and available within the widest community possible. So, I’ll also continue to post on the keyboard subs on Reddit as that’s where a very significant portion of the community remains.

INTEREST CHECK: I do have a Wylderbuilds Discord server which I’m considering opening up more generally, if that would be of interest to anyone? The discussions there have been terrific. Usually. Mostly. Yes, actually, they’ve been great!

Finally, though, I’m happy to be here on Lemmy and I’m wyldly interested to see how this community continues to grow and transform!

To celebrate this major shift (yes, here’s the plug, gotta have a plug) I’m having a VIVA LA REVOLUCION sale on my Wylderbuilds site. Everything is 10% off from now through July 14th, so through July 4th to Bastille Day.

Just use code FUSPEZ at checkout for your 10% off. What? No, those are totally random letters.
