openmediavault is the next generation network attached storage (NAS) solution based on Debian Linux. It contains services like SSH, (S)FTP, SMB/CIFS, AFS, UPnP media server, DAAP media server, RSync, BitTorrent client and many more.
It’s a very nice “all in one” solution for beginner and intermediate skill levels. I found it a little off-putting how it controls configurations though. I hoped it would give me a good baseline and I could do additional tweaking with Ansible but it clobbers my changes. It would’ve been nice if it supported a REST API. Not a lot of other choices for this kind of thing (even fewer if you want to run on a rPi).
