An Israeli tank attack on a United Nations center sheltering thousands of displaced Palestinians has killed at least nine people and wounded 75 others in Gaza’s second largest city, senior U.N. humanitarian officials said Wednesday.
Acts like this only add more years of generational hatred to the mix and deal future counter attacks. Then surprised pickachu when it happens and clutching of pearls.
This one?
We have been here before. Media reports one particular instance of an atrocity. Israel denies being responsible. Media frenzy and social network hypefocus on that one incident monopolizing discussion in all online venues over who did what in a he says, she says manner. Meanwhile Israel commits a hundred similar atrocities without denial and with officials even being proud they did do those other atrocities. But it goes unacknowledged in public discussion, because the one event polemic eclipses reports.
Israel already murdered more UN officials than any other armed force in history. They have even been found specifically targeting them.
It was the same deal with hospitals, journalists, refugee camps, safe zones, killing their own hostages, etc. It’s a pattern by now, but one that is well known.
I didn’t do it, I did it but didn’t mean to, I meant to but for good reason, I had no reason but they deserved it.
Or, we have been here before and it was never that simple. The simpleminded accept the worst because it fits their narrative and deny everything else to the contrary. A strategy of the truly obnoxious in this world is to inundate dumdums with ‘news’ until what they are saying is accepted by virtue of how many times it’s said, not by how true it is. Which one is it, then? I’m absolutely certain you have no idea.
Ah yes look, the people we have mountains of evidence against are denying the thing! It * must * mean they didn’t do it! /s
You are confusing evidence with circumstance. Your mountains of evidence amount to nothing, which is why the ICJ did not determine Israel was committing genocide in Gaza. The simple truth is that we have no idea what is happening in Gaza. When there is an Israeli tank nearby, and a civilian dies, it does NOT mean that someone in the tank shot the civilian. This is what investigations are for. And I’m not going to bother answering your other posts. It’s weird you are stalking me.
The ICJ’s ruling does indicate that Israel is committing a genocide (or in technical jargon, “Failing to prevent one”).
An Israeli tank nearby and a history of Israel massacring civilians is enough for me, thanks. But also thanks to Israel, no independent committee can enter Gaza to prove or disprove this. How convenient.
We have no reason to believe otherwise.
Absence of evidence is not evidence. This is a fallacy. And your interpretation of the ICJ is bizarre. There is no mystery. There is no definitive evidence of genocide.
And please, stop calling it 'a genocide '. You sound like you copy/pasted it from some dumdum on the Internet.
If there is no plausible evidence (and there is), why do you think they found it plausible enough to start a court case?
Just stop. No one will listen to you as long as you have stupid arguments.
Such civil, much debate! Wow!
In a 15-2 ruling, the ICJ judges ordered that Israel must prevent the following actions against the protected “group,” which the court defined as the Palestinians of Gaza: “(a) killing members of the group; ( b ) causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; © deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; and ( d ) imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group.” While the specific word “ceasefire” was not mentioned in the order, the ruling could not be clearer about the court’s intent. It literally ordered Israel to stop killing Palestinians in Gaza “with immediate effect.” https://theintercept.com/2024/01/26/icj-ruling-gaza-genocide/
In some years the final ruling will likely be genocide. In the meantime, I have some hope that people like you will see the errors of their ways.
