Sorry, bit late, not having a bot’s a bit of a hassle innit
I don’t think it’s super difficult to do, from last time I played with the API. Maybe I’ll have a crack, and share the code somewhere in case it borks and I disappear.
No promises. Assignments and all that are piled up atm.
All good, I think the other mods have largely quit Lemmy lol.
Also, if it’s just you, do you need more people on board?
ah, nah it’s fine, I’ve been steering this ship on my own pretty much for the past several months, I can handle it while we’re this size. If we do lift a trophy I might need a hand XD.
Like, there’s maybe a post every couple hours at best? Not hard to read through everything. Just don’t be naughty!
I feel like a child being warned by an adult xD
I am hardly an adult XD
If the recent Reddit shenanigans haven’t inspired more people to join us, I’m not sure what will. Maybe we should start shilling for it on other forums.
Eh, they’ll come eventually. This place has been slowly growing, I’ve no interest in forcing it to grow. Reddit will fuck up again and again cuz it’s Reddit.
I’ve thought this too, but I don’t feel active enough or have done enough to feel I would warrant being a mod. I’ve also never moderated a forum before, so I feel vastly under qualified xD
Did they expect more of an exodus from Reddit?
Dunno, just lost interest probably. It’s fascinating how often people switch their attention away from things once the public consciousness does, too. Just like Game of Thrones.
for the record, I have not seen any of Game of Thrones, but the talk sure died out once Season 8 went out.
Speaking as the guy who founded one of the main game of thrones related subreddits way back in the day (and, incidentally, it was also the very first game of thrones related subreddit), it’s still ridiculous to me how that show went from being the most talked about shows on TV to being totally forgotten.
But then, that’s going to happen when you have two arrogant idiots running the show and they run out of original source material and have to come up with it themselves.
Seasons 1-4 were very good overall. But the show gradually shit the bed. So as I’m sure you’re already aware, your not missing much.
And the last season was so bad I don’t think I’ll even bother reading the next book (assuming it ever comes out).
It was a nice pile of hot garbage. They took everything they did for the previous 7 years, bundled it into a wood cabin and set it on fire. Which is pretty fitting for the finale, haha
Entertainment-wise, it may be fine? Story-wise, character motivations don’t really make sense because they just rushed it to move onto other projects. If they were that done with it, just pass it to someone else. It could be they were contracted to finish it, but if that’s the case, they signed those contracts.
Either way, it had so much potential and fizzled out the worst way possible. Shows just how much damage they did.
The books are fairly good. I can’t remember what I got up to, but I found other books I wanted to read more and haven’t gotten back to it since.
lol I watched exactly one episode and it was enough to turn me off of the whole show. Might go back and read the books at some point, though.
I’m not reading shit until Winds of Winter comes out, and even then.
I have pondered this from time to time. I think there was an associated Discord with the Gunners subreddit I joined as well around the time of the Rexodus, but I could be wrong. So, they could have ended up over there instead?
Biereth is having a good loan at Sturm Graz, do you think Mikel will try to work him into the file or will we cash in?
I think cash or another loan. Still a massive step up from Austria — hell, Arthur Okonkwo went from winning them a trophy to being at Wrexham right now.
As an aside: Finally got around to starting to watch Doctor Who (starting with NuWho); finished off the Ninth Doctor a bit ago and plus like, two Tennant episodes. Hafta say, prefer Eccleston so far. But it’s good television either way.
Very nice! I started to rewatch it all with some friends a while ago and been slowly getting through it (I hate timezones…). We’re into season 7 (Matt Smith’s 3rd season?).
Give Tennant a bit though, he will grow on you. By the 3rd season (2nd season of Tennant) the show changes a little and moves away from the odd-ball camera angles and feels a bit more refined (from memory at least).
I think Matt Smith is peak Who for the reboot. It starts to go downhill for me from then on. Which is a shame because I was really looking forward to Capaldi and Whittaker had potential, I just think the showrunner and writers were absolute garbage. I never finished her first season, it was such a slog and it just didn’t click with me at all.
But I’ll shut up now haha. Let me know what you think of Tennant after you finish season 2 :)
I’ve heard from a friend that ask ten people and you’ll get eleven different rankings of the Doctors so we’ll see haha.
Very true. I think if you ask most of my generation-ish they will say Tennant, for new Who at least. He’s mine, but it’s so neck and neck with Smith… I struggle to split them apart they were so brilliant. The team behind them both were excellent and I think made it easy for them both to shine.
I concur, Smith is peak. Tennant is a close second for me.
It was a shame about Whittaker’s tenure, I love the actress…but for some reason I felt like she tried to convey too much of Smith’s manic energy? It also didn’t help the stories were too badly written and the companions had personalities of marmite. Except for maybe Graham.
Gatwa has potential, I enjoyed his special a lot.
I definitely think you’re right. Tennant and Smith almost set a standard that maybe she felt like she had to tap into. Tennant gave us an energetic performance that Smith took to another level, so we get this lovable quirky energetic insanity.
Each doctor has had some sort of quirk about them though, if you go back and watch some of the older stuff they were always oddballs, but I think each actor brought something else to the role that I don’t know if Whittaker tapped into.
But the whole series was largely pretty rubbish, so I almost feel like she’s a little hard done by. We’ll never know. I would have like for her to have stayed on one more series under RTD. Maybe we actually see what she can do.
Some Wolfsburg player called Jule Brand was being linked with Barca Femini and I got so fucking confused for a bit thinking it was Julian Brandt lol
