I just want out of my adobe subscription. Signed up for a free trial and they automaticallyade me into a one year subscription with a $200 cancellation fee when I missed it. Fuck adobe.
Hands down one of the top criminal billing companies around.
I’ve never found a free trial that doesn’t let you cancel it as soon as you activate it without losing access to the trial. Is there a reason why so many people don’t just do this?
I just did a week of prime for $2. Can’t cancel without losing the rest of the week. But previously when I had it yearly, I was able to cancel as soon as I signed up without losing access.
I always found that they worded it like it would end the trial but on the final cancel button it would specify that you would still have it until the end date. No idea if they’ve changed that recently though.
Y’know, folks might be more willing to sign up for things if they knew they could cancel them without a big runaround.
All the short term executives don’t care about the long term survivability of the company.
@BrikoX I found an app called Privacy.com. Sign up bank and control all payments with as many cards as you like. Signed up for free Hulu trial with dedicated card and set amount to zero. I Couldn’t cancel but they couldn’t claim, all 5 times they tried!
^USA only. Saving the rest of the world a click.
Been using it for a few years now. Love it. Only 1 place I used a card where a few months later I got a random charge come through and it blocked it. It felt great knowing I was safe since a card won’t accept charges from anyone but the original company the card was made for. I kind of wanted to reach out to the company and tell them something shady happened to your online site.
Can this hurt your credit? (If US based)
It won’t. They’re just banking on you forgetting you signed up so they can charge your card.
But If there isn’t any money on the card then they can’t charge you. Think of it as signing up with a gift card in a way. However the times that I’ve done it I haven’t been able to use a card with $0 on it. I’ve always had to put at least $1 on it so the card can be verified.
Idk if I explained that well
tl;dr: No
Sounds brilliant!
Wow, the U.S. actually caring about its citizens? Color me surprised.
