According to the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, investigators searched the suspect’s property on Laurel Road in Shipman, Virginia. Deputies charged Raymond Uttaro, 64, who was employed by the sheriff’s office in the ‘90s. He served as a jail officer and D.A.R.E. officer, according to the sheriff’s office. He later served as an emergency services coordinator for the County of Nelson, which falls under the supervision of the Board of Supervisors and County Administrator. He also has a history with the Lovingston Volunteer Fire Department.
