Yo, chickpeas are crazy expensive where I live
even dried?
To be honest… I don’t think I’ve seen a dried chickpea that wasn’t packaged as a “snack” and it was like $5 for a single serving :(
Those are crispy chickpeas. Dried chickpeas are found with beans and other pulses and you soak/cook in water
Dang that’s a shame. Grocery stores around here sell them by the pound next to the dry beans.

maybe it’s just because of evil cooperations making them expensive because they can say cuz ukraine?
That isn’t a different thing. Their mechanism for doing so is war. Corporations are making them expensive by starting and continuing wars. All wars are capitalist exploitation and a profit generating scheme. In this case the war is being fought where the chickpeas are grown though so the amount coming to market has dropped.
There are a few kind of chickpeas though, these are specifically the big round ones anglos call garbanzo beans and in hindi are called kabuli chana. Desi chickpea production hasn’t been impacted but those are smaller chickpeas. The other major source for kabuli chana is Canada.
I had a union at my previous job, and it was fucking awesome

They bargained with the University I used to work for to get us things like:
- 37.5hr work weeks and still receiving full-time benefits and pay
- Good vacation accrual rates
- A guaranteed effort to move union employees into other open positions if theirs is cut
- Legal help/advice/action when Directors, etc. overstepped our rights (which I personally had to make use of)
- Paid by the hour. No salary/after-hours bullshit.
Even if I were a millionaire this is how I would eat though 🤷♀️
Because you want to, not because you have to. That’s the difference
