I got a day off work, for a little over £1 of my tax contribution. I’m ok with this.
Not an accountant, but i guess the funeral ceremony for the previous head of state - no political involvement - cost about the same. Thus swapping one non-political head of state for another cost in the region of 150mil. That seems rather a lot for someone to carry out a purely ceremonial role. Am i missing anything?
How much did the Tories spaff on the HS2 fuck up. Can we abolish the Conservatives too?
A few guys had a huge party, paid by many who weren’t invited 🤣
And some of the people who paid, then got arrested when showing their displeasure about the whole thing.
How else are you supposed to treat the peasantry? They ought to know their place.
Was there an increase of tourists making up for it?
6 tourists bought a little flag.
So at London tourism prices that more than covered it.
I had heard in the past that the monarchy and it’s trimmings are a net increase in income, via tourism.
Can someone confirm if that’s true or not?
I’m not suggesting everyone should have a monarch and a bunch of castles just for tourism.
