I see “if you’re looking for an image it was probably deleted”
Which is either God tier trolling, or something being funky somewhere.

the worst part was that it was an elderly employee who couldn’t afford to retire.

someone so thoroughly beat down by the system that they can’t afford to stop working, helped perpetuate the system that’s fucking them over without (probably) ever realizing that they did it.

I would bet that a lot of people cheering this dude on would’ve turned him in for 50k. A system predicated on misery means that it’s often surprisingly easy to get someone to compromise their ideals by floating them some cash. 10k probably would’ve done it, just not as fast. People are desperate for respite. People who only have a few years left even more so

The 50k is taxed as income too. “Treasure trove” earnings. Dude will owe like $7800 come tax season, hope someone warned them

Not me. IF I recognized him(which I wouldn’t) I would’ve thanked him for his service and gave him extra nuggets

They’re not gonna fuckin pay him out. That would require the police doing the right thing and keeping their word. No chance of either.

the police dont pay these bounties but you’re probably at least partially right. there are a lot of technicalities with these bounties, primarily that generally the tip must be submitted to the agency offering the reward

so like usually these bounties are offered initially by a 3rd party called crime stoppers which is a nonprofit that collects and dispenses donations. but in some cases if you call the police to make the report that means you get dick because to get the money you have to submit the report to crime stoppers directly. it’s not always like this because many police departments partner with crime stoppers but sometimes it is.

sometimes (and I think it was the case here) additional funds are provided by the fbi which does pay out directly but again you have to provide the tip to them to get the cash. The initial 10k wanted poster had the crime stoppers logo on it so that was funded through them but the rest was probably funded through fbi and maybe a specific donation to crime stoppers on behalf of the family or united or something

I didn’t enjoy my time in food service either, but isn’t a taxpayer pretty much by definition not lumpen?
