Its a cactuar.
Arguably pre-internet, first appeared in FF 6, 1994.
Internet’s older than you think. Tim Berners Lee, the dude who invented the World Wide Web, opened it up to the public a year earlier.
And we were using BBS and college FTP sites with Gopher in 92-93 when we got AOL at our house, but friends of mine had Compuserve or Prodigy even before that.

My first thought was the Bangles, but I’m officially old. Do I even want to know what the first row is referring to?
It’s about the people who get offended at anything that can look like cultural appropriation.
Hey! You’re appropriating my culture of being offended by people who appropriate culture!
Meh, I don’t think it’s inappropriate. It’s a cliche about our ideas about some hieroglyphics rather than being a racial thing. No one thinks Egyptians walk that way. They just did a lot of side ways people in some of their images.
Yeah also it was an intentional artistic choice, not an innate racial characteristic.
They just really weren’t very good with that whole perspective thing.
I don’t get it. Is the cactus a swastika or something?
Yes, I am quite familiar with the song, which has obviously not popped out of existence following the advent of the Internet.
No, but it did exist before the internet. That was what they meant, not that the strip magically transports to a time before the internet existed with the second panel.
OK, but none of this is explaining anything.
What is left that you need explained to you?
What the actual joke is supposed to be.
I would read other comments in the post, then.
Did Steve Martin get canceled?
Nah, he opt out and spends his time with a banjo these days
Could we get some comic with that jpeg?
