Hey all, currently following the recent trend of trying to ditch reddit and I thought I’d try lemmy. I’m a long time reddit lurker but thought, with the community in lemmy being much smaller for now I’d try posting to get a feeler!

I became vegan in October 2020, over 2 and a half years ago now, and a few months ago I moved to Zurich - been struggling to find almost anyone vegan, I get the usual “I’m trying to cut down on my meat consumption…” from most co-workers and people I meet but would be interested to know if there are any like-minded people around here!

[email protected] (hope I’m getting the linking right) is the german speaking vegan community, they should have collected the Swiss stragglers as well. If not maybe try the social function on HappyCow.

Thanks, I’ve subscribed. And good recommendation with HappyCow, I have dabbled with it and definitely found some great places when travelling - haven’t tried the social aspect too much but it’s a good place to try.

Yes we do exist. I have a few co-workers that are vegan, but I imagine it is highly dependent on the company in which you work.

Statistically there are. Might not be any on here (yet). Searching shows vegan groups in Zurich on Meetup and FB. Another idea is visiting vegan stores?

Yeah it’s a small community for now, but I believe it will grow! And yeah a few years ago I deleted FB and never looked back, the only social media I used was Reddit until now.

Yeah there are some nice vegan stores that I’ve been too, tip for anyone visiting Zurich to definitely check out Bakerybakery at the main train station / Hauptbahnhof! I haven’t tried meetup to be fair, maybe it’s worth giving a go Thanks for the suggestion!
