Lemmy
And Fediverse in general. I was a lurker on reddit and have just now created accounts on Lemmy and Kbin. I find these two platforms engaging, even though they’re small. I’m trying to engage more, not just lurk on here. I like the new communities on here, and I want to be a part of them. P.S. I still haven’t gotten the hang of Fediverse, completely.
Advances in genetic technology and treatments
Severence season 2 is probably going to be pretty good. Capitalism will eventually collapse under its own weight. Peak sweet corn season is in a couple months.
But, without capitalism no one would have a reason to grow the sweet corn
I can assure you that people ate food before capitalism.
There’s a difference between eating food and eating what you want to eat. Capitalism drives innovation and gets people to grow more of what’s wanted. Sweet corn for example was first discovered in Pennsylvania and when people found that it was tasty and profitable people began growing it more places and transporting it to sell. Guess what drove that… capitalism
You and I will never ever agree on this. Have a good day!

Nothing. Life’s beautiful, enjoy while it lasts. Sit back, relax, enjoy, have fun. It’s too short to be wasted worrying about things to be optimistic about.
That slowly but somewhat erratically, my art skills, and my German are both improving.
We’ve had nuclear weapons for nearly 80 years and haven’t wiped ourselves off the planet. We seem to be getting smarter.
The growing acceptance of AI.
Don’t get me wrong, I am quite worried about some of the ways AI is being used currently. But any technology can be used or abused. And as someone interested in HRI and human-like robotics & AI, I always got reactions like terminator was gonna happen for real. Seeing that slowely changing is nice.
Now if only the ethics of those big companies making AI would also change, forced if not voluntarily, then we get some real cool stuff.
If AI doesn’t bring our end, it will likely bring about the closest thing to utopia we can hope for. It would be far better at leading us than our pathetic leaders.
About what?
The weather. Ones freedom (i hope). Cats. Dogs. Other animals. Books. Neil Gaiman tvshows. Good people fighting the good fight still. That some societies has advanced to where pride can be celebrated openly. Seeing people excited about hobbies or games. People that sacrifice time and effort for free to create, host, and mod Lemmy and kbin and Mastodon. Nature and the effort done to creating green cities. Science progresses still. 3D printers and people using them to print stuff to help others, without charging an arm and a leg for it.
That every day that you stay alive, some older problems stop being meaningful, and you learn a bit better how to handle the newer problems.
The standard of living in my country has absolutely skyrocketed in the last 10 years.
I no longer have to worry about cholera, the roof of my house falling on me, or being shipped to a conflict zone by an employer.
My new problems are more like navigating a career in IT, saving for a home, and harassing clients to pay me on time.
The number of problems I have has stayed the same, but the new set is much better than the old set and I try to pause a moment and appreciate that sometimes.
