This place is pretty empty right now, but I’d love it to be a welcoming community of Smash players. To that end, what kind of posts do you want to see when you come here? Memes, combo videos, discussions, or something else? Let’s discuss it and build the community we want to see.
I’d also love feedback on the rules. Are there any missing? Is the language clear enough? Let me know.
Please let there be tournament set threads for majors again I will perish if these end up dying out
100% this, that was my favorite thing from the old community. If we don’t have the tourney threads and the
congrats to the winner of ____posts, it won’t be the same. I have some basic api experience with start.gg’s API, so I could try to make a bot in my free time. No promises though. All mid set updates would have to be done manually too.Automated results threads for known majors would be incredible & monumental in bringing people over.
I’m trying, but so far set threads have to be done manually due to most tourneys not updating start.gg on a game by game basis. The pre tournament thread and final results threads are making good progress though.

Love those too! Pretty sure they’re posted manually? Or at least they don’t appear to be made by a dedicated bot account. It’s up to us to be the change we want to see.
Although setting up a bot to poll from start.gg and automatically make those posts sounds like a fun weekend project.

Hey there! I feel like any smash content should be welcome as of now (memes, clips, you name it). If tags exist here on lemmy it would be a good idea to have some.
As for the rules, maybe add something to prevent (or regulate) something like self-promotion? The rest is perfect. Now I only have to find some of my crusty ass clips to show to the dozen other people around here
I shall investigate whether there are tags. If not, we can use keywords in the title, e.g
[Meme],[Clip], and so on.I agree that regulating self-promotion is probably a good idea. Some limited self promotion could be good for the sub though; I don’t want to stop people posting a good video or whatever just because they’ve made it. I’m inclined to take a wait and see approach: start with less regulation, then add it later if/when it becomes clear what exactly should be regulated.
100% agree with everything you said! You should add the keywords thing in the rules or make a pinned post though.
Changing subject, do you happen to know if there’s a way to export clips for smash on the sd card? I do not have online. Is that the only way?
If you’ve converted it to a video and it’s on your SD card, I think you can connect the SD card to your computer and copy it over! Without online, I don’t think there’s a way to do it without taking the SD card out though.
Also how do we share clips? Should we upload them to an external service and link them?
I think so! I think if videos were supported as a general thing then it would easily put too big of a strain on servers.
Whatever service you feel comfortable with will work just fine I reckon. If you’re really into the federated thing though, then you could check out PeerTube! I haven’t used it yet except to watch one or two videos, but it seems pretty cool.

Would love to see more pro content. The subreddit had multiple set threads whenever there was a notable major.
Also rules look good for now! They can always be changed or added to once we start getting an influx of people
