Ukraine and Germany have signed a declaration of intent to build a wind farm around the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant (NPP).

    Cool, looking forward to Greenpeace or whoever protesting this wind farm because they’re worried it’ll blow radiation from Chernobyl into other countries because they don’t understand how radiation or wind farms work but reflexively oppose anything to do with nuclear plants.

      Chornobyl is the Ukrainian spelling (well, the romanization of it anyways), while Chernobyl is the Russian version. Many people and news organizations switched to the Ukrainian spelling for obvious reasons, same thing happened with Kiev -> Kyiv.

          It’s not about randomly changing letters. In Ukrainian it’s always been Чорнобиль but the Russians imposed their language on all Soviet regions.

      That’s the Ukrainian spelling, apparently. (much like Kiev -> Kyiv)
