They seem to be confused about more than that.

Blue guy: …in the conditions of the war that we declared

Old guy: You mean the war that was declared AGAINST US

Blue: Yes, that is what I said.

    Later:

Blue: We should be ready to threaten the US directly. What are we waiting for?

Old: If we weren’t ready, we would not have started this.

If this doesn’t prove they are perfectly aware they are lying through their teeth. I don’t know what will.

They know they are committing war crimes, and they started the war, and the invasion is illegal.

The way the old guy was smirking when he “corrected” the other guy on who declared the war was very telling. Just like nazi propaganda in the 1930s and 40s they know exactly what they are doing.

Shit like this takes a special kind of evil.

And then the US simultaneously do what they want, and never achieve any of their goals. It could be the fascist playbook of enemies both fearsome and inferior. But it might also be translation.

That’s the beauty of only telling the truth: You do not have to remember whom you told which lie. Peace of mind.

    These guys look stressed out.

Russians sincerely believe in their war. Their ideology is a fucking cancer.

Wouldn’t be surprised if this guy gets taken around the corner just for being confused, it happened in the Soviet union all the time. How the hell are people supposed to keep up with a million completely contradictory lies? They’re punishing their own cronies for pushing the narratives THEY told them to push.

How the hell are people supposed to keep up with a million completely contradictory lies?

      It’s not a bug, it’s a feature.

At this point, if you want to know about it, it is well documented. Have you heard of firehose of misinformation?
