Get your skinny jeans on, this is actually pretty solid metalcore! The fantasy lit nerd in me also appreciates the imagery. For the uninitiated: The Wise Man’s Fear is the 2nd book in Patrick Rothfuss’s Kingkiller Chronicle trilogy, and if you’re comfortable with reading parts 1 and 2 when part 3 is widely speculated never to arrive, you are in for some top-tier world-building.
