People are more hostile here than on Reddit. I barely participate anymore and any time I do my inbox gets filled with horrible responses. It’s like the worst people from Reddit have decided to be here permanently.

    I took a look through your comment history out of curiosity and it looks like you mostly hang around in news and politics communities. Those two topics will always be a cesspool regardless of where you are. It definitely was on Reddit also.

    I’m not saying it’s good or bad, but your diction also comes off as a bit confrontational which is going to invite those kinds of responses as well.

    Certain instances are a little more complex compared to Reddit- imagine each one is like it’s own hive mind. I like Lemmy.world because it has the most variety and a less politically charged vibe compared to the other big instances. Don’t forget that you have the power to block problematic users and communities (and keywords depending on your client) to shape your feed into something more enjoyable.
