In September 2022, the estimate was that Russia had 3300 operational tanks at the start of the 2022 Invasion (plus their thousands of non operational or retired ones).

If those numbers are right, Russia has lost the equivalent of their initial total force of tanks plus 2200 they un-mothballed…

IDK how many tanks they had, some estimated 10k before the war.

Some estimates put the Russian grand total as high as 12,420 tanks

It may be they had 3300 operational at the beginning of the war, but apparently they’ve been able to make a lot more ready, maybe they even have better production than we know of. I’ve seen estimates of only 10 new tanks produced per month. But I’m not sure that’s accurate.

Obviously Russia had massive amounts of equipment before the war, I too sure hope they will run out soon.

It’s probably accurate that they can manufacture 10 20 to 90 new tanks a month, the bulk of what they have been putting on the field now are tanks they have pulled from long term storage.

I’d imagine they would have to be checked over, relubricated, and have any decayed rubber components (hoses and such) replaced.

The main thing is the loss of the trained tank crews they had at the start of the war.

Also, the older tanks they’re fielding now require more of the crew (less automation, no modern optics) and can be more fatiguing to the crew as comfort was less of a design concern of the time period.

        Edit:

Found an article that claims they can produce 20-90 tanks a day month.

How can December 7 be published already? There is like 8 more hours left before the end of the day

That’s how they state them. Probably as in the day the numbers are released, or the numbers as per but not including today, after yesterdays numbers are added.
Also numbers today can have numbers from previous days added, if they were only reported or confirmed yesterday. So the daily numbers are not actually necessarily events from yesterday, but rather what was reported/confirmed yesterday.

Yea, that makes sense. Thanks for reply
