yeah this one is a complete one-off. we havent seen anything like this about the modern Wittebane family before

Sure there was the french maid outfit, but that felt like a gag to me.

The maid outfit itself can be seen as just a gag, a troll by Gangle, but Jax’s reaction is the important part: “I have never seen you this upset about something.” That was one of the big things that had people suggesting Jax was either transmasc or closeted transfem. Not yet a guarantee, of course, but certainly a “🤨”

Another big “if you know, you know” moment was Jax’s crashout in episode 6. Specifically: “I’m just a misunderstood little chicken feats in an egg that needs to be cracked open.” As @[email protected] demonstrated, “egg” is a term in trans communities for someone who isn’t aware or out yet^[1] (although importantly, forcibly “cracking” someone else’s egg is frowned upon; a chick will not survive if their egg is cracked from the outside, they have to be incubated and protected until they are ready to hatch on their own terms). This is also mirrored in the episode 8 torture sequence, where Jax’s skin gets forcefully peeled away, exposing the “yolk” while being laughed at

Mastodon is a much nicer place to enjoy a thing :)

Goose is a trans woman herself. I see Jax not as a literal copy of herself, but rather as her idea of a “bad ending” if young-Goose (Gosling?) wasn’t able to come out and be herself

I think it’s also worth comparing Lee(roy) in real life versus Jax in the Circus. Jax is a snapshot of their mental state at possibly the lowest point in their life, immediately after their coming out apparently killed their mother. But while Lee was able to find friends and build out of that (on the way to a “good ending”), Jax never got that chance and ultimately succumbed to it

In a reply on another thread, Goose added irl she “probably just goes by Lee for the time being”

So the last episode will have a different name from the theatrical release!

Also this actually goes all the way back to the observation I (and many others) made from the pilot: Pomni’s name is actually Russian for “remember.” What’s the significance of that?? (Probably not much, given that Goose revealed that was in fact a complete coincidence. But you never know! I asked a local unicorn jester about this, and she responded “well, it’s possible…”)
