I think i get it. There are 2 wanted production birds, birds for meat and birds for eggs. So i take it that the lineage of birds for eggs would provide sub par meat so they get culled nearly instantly. Then as a cost of having an egg laying bird you have a dead male or two attached to the cost of the eggs vegetarians buy.
