Washing your hands with soap, water helps prevent disease, infection

There's no evidence OTC antibacterial soaps prevent disease more than washing with plain soap and water. Some antibacterial drugs can do more harm than good.

Better than nothing. Water is a great solvent and will get rid of larger particles. Use hot water to dislodge more oily things.
