The idea that the Chinese Civil War and Cultural Revolution were waged by “elites” in any conceivable sense is flatly wrong.

Jesus fucking Christ.

The very idea of “elitism” was what was on trial during the hottest years of the revolution.

It was the process of creation of an entrenched counter-elite - a process which had been ongoing since at least WW2 in the CCP.

Off-topic Discussion — Do not discuss unrelated topics to the point of derailing the thread. Stay focused on the direct content of the post as opposed to arguing.

You’ll be warned if you’re violating the instance and community rules. Continuing poor behaviour after being warned will result in a ban or removal of your comments.
