I think the team is built to do just that. Elite defense with Watt and Fitzpatrick. Force turnovers, make QB’s uncomfortable, and get off the field. Offense focused on ball control, run-heavy with relatively safe, short passes.
It’s how they’ve invested their draft capital and money. They have don’t have the elite QB and WR corps to keep up with the Bengals, Bills, or Chiefs. But this offensive line and tight ends might end up top-5 next year. Every position group on defense is in the conversation for top-5 in the league except for dimebacker/slot corner/star/whatever you want to cal it.
I don’t know that they will win a Superbowl unless guys like Pickens, Pickett, and Najee can step up and become elite players. But I also don’t think we will see another blowout unless they get decimated with injuries.
