This multifaceted approach sounds intriguing, but may produce a black box effect, wherein users don’t even understand the system or whether behaviors they engage in are contributory or detrimental to the community as a whole. How technically difficult would such a system be to implement and furthermore to properly convey meaning to users about their engagement with it? How could it be implemented to provide the psychologically rewarding effects, like karma does, to encourage further engagement without gamefying the system to the point of reaching the pitfalls you outlined of the current system?
