“If Congress will work with me on doing that, we’ll be able to reduce the size and scope of government,” he added. “If Congress won’t go that far, I’m going to use those agencies to push back against woke ideology and against the leftism that we see creeping into all institutions of American life.”

    Yes, agencies can be misused by a president but for most, you’d still rather have them. The IRS is essential for tax revenue (the stuff that keeps the essential stuff going) and thr department of energy oversees both nuclear weapons and nuclear reactors. Both would be incredibly ineffectual if left to individual states.
