They can’t fathom the idea of anything having appeal that isn’t a brand. They’re capitalists, so everything is a commodity. Of course they think about religion the same way they think about any other demographic commonality: It’s just a data point, so we need to onboard customers to it so they’re more easy to bend and more likely to enable our social control. Why on earth would people just be good to each other? because the Incarnation of God told them to?! Ridiculous–and who cares if they are anyway, right?
