    For me, the early part of those games feels very busy and alive, because I’m meeting new characters, doing side quests, and reaching level caps. At some point, I either run out of side quests or run out of interest, and speed through the rest of the main quest. I think that can give people the impression of abrupt ending.

    But Outer Worlds had 10(?) worlds, only 3-4 of which really had much to do; another 3 were basically dungeon crawls; and 4 seemed to be placeholders for DLC. If there’s parts of the New Vegas or NWN maps that are sparsely populated, it doesn’t detract from the overall game, because wasteland is kind of normal or I just never got around there. But put in some big, forbidden fast-travel beacons and that feels like content that was supposed to exist, but doesn’t.
