    Yeah, Eritreans are a difficult group… as they are actually 2 groups.

    The first group left Eritrea in the previous civil war and have been refugees since the 90s. These are mostly pro-Afwerki, as he is the guy who then fought the opressive government to liberate Eritrea.

    Since then Afwerki turned into a brutal autocrat and has spiked a second wave of refugees who are mostly younger and lived under Afwerki’s brutal regime.

    And then in Europe these 2nd wave refugees are confronted with 1st wave pro-Afwerki refugees who hold rallies, spy on their countrymen and report them causing their families back home to be arrested or worse.

    So these 2 groups are at odds to put it mildly. Causing violent clashes, usually between large groups, mostly when the Afwerki group is holding one of their rallies.

    It’s really shitty to have to deal with. This is the case all over Europe btw. Switzerland is not alone with this issue, nor growing hardline stances. These types of issues fuel the right wing parties as it ‘proves their point’ and the inability for governments to stop it is an actual issue.
