These guests were nice people, but I told them to do this BEFORE garbage collection and now we have no empty bins for the house for the rest of the week. I thought it was just boxes and pop cans, but the health hazards were very well hidden and the smell didn’t hit until we moved things.

How does anyone accumulate that kind of garbage while at a short term Airbnb?

Holy crap! My parents were landlords for 20 years and I was for 6 years. In all that time I’ve only seen a rental that bad once after a long term tenant left.

They were here for like 4 months, but ALMOST stayed longer. I think they left early because they were running out of room.

One of the reasons we do a maximum of 28 days…

Yeah, the frequency of disrespect on this platform seems to be increasing… I haven’t dealt with this level of hoarding in about 10 years since I was renting out the regular way. For this case, I ended up charging them north of $300. She’s claiming she can’t afford it and shouldn’t have to pay because she has a mobility issue even though her partner does not and she volunteered to mop before… not mopping. I guess it’s going to be upto Air BnB if they want to swallow that load of it. Pity discounts only go so far.
