I’ve seen Doom run on calculators, an Apple Watch, hell I think some guys at MIT got it running on an abacus. There is an old meme about, “but will it run Crysis?” Turns out the Steam deck WILL run Crysis.
But not Doom (1993). Because that’s just too much to ask.
EDIT: It appears that my framing this as humor by joking about Doom running on an abacus, and mentioning the meme “but does it run Crysis,” wasn’t enough of a clue to give away:
This is not a technical indictment. I am well aware a SteamDeck can run Doom. But, in one of the communities I posted this in, everyone wanted to be right, and no one wanted to be correct, so they needed to explain what “supported,” and “unsupported,” meant while I banged my head on the keyboard… Sorry I needed to ruin a joke because some people don’t know when a thing is a joke…
