I was bored/procrastinating on some work.
It’s not really an in-depth thing, I just used Lemmy’s search capability and took note of the number of responses and the number of deleted responses. I added the number of responses with the number of deleted responses (a negative number for new responses, a positive number for new responses is ignored). I did it for both Lemmy.world and Lemm.ee and took the average. For the smoothed out version, I just took the exponential moving average with the following factors:

1 day - average age (ϰ)=
7 days - EMA factor (α) =
1/(ϰ+1)=0.125
That is, I am trying to smooth the values accounting for weekly variability in activity.
I guess I could have ignored the spike in activity during the Reddit blackout, but it seems that the smoothing took care of that quite well.
EDIT: Replaced chart image with a one that has a black background for legibility for people using light mode.

Someone made a thread the other day suggesting that r/PH switch to NSFW. This article explains what we already know and why it’s a bad idea:

Nakakatakot if the Reddit admin appoint these kinds of people as mods such as:
- the notorious anti-vaxxer mod sa phclassifieds
- Sakundes
- DDS/Marcos apologist a la Truther
- Redditor who has a eugenics fetish
- MRA/MGTOW na nagkakalat sa isang satirical sub (na obviously not satirical ang mga posts niya)
I was kind of curious and looked up some of them. Guess what? The MRA filed a request to be the top mod of r/ph.

What they appear to be doing is asking for volunteers. Check the mod code of conduct account’s posting history. That would be a disaster for r/ph. Imagine if certain people there became mods.

Nearly a month ago I requested for my reddit data and I just got the file today. A few notes:
- It has all my comments since 2011. But a large part of it is unavailable on the actual site if I take a look at my profile.
- Most of the data is comprised of my comments (around 15000+), posts (almost 200), upvoted/downvoted comments, upvoted/downvoted posts, etc.
- IPs used to access the site are logged for about the last 3 months or so.
So yeah, I guess after posting that flying ipis thing (which makes sense to be gone for good right?), back to regular mini-OMC na naman. Skip niyo na lang haha, but yeah Advance good night, happy weekend na din. I’m positive I won’t be back sometime - till then. For now, tapusin ko lang ang mga “urgent” tasks daw sabi ni scrum master. 👍 Cheers! 🍻

You’re probably back there and maybe not here. I really cannot gauge and I should not anyway. What I realized these past few days though? I won’t stop caring, but I’ll still have to keep this close to my chest. Bahala na ulit, as always. I’ll be here though, I’ll be around literally and figuratively, whatever happens from now on, as my many thanks well not only to you but for the rest of the folks that keeps me going, too. But yeah, be well, my friend.
