Not feeling well this week and falling back on the comic book equivalent of “comfort food”.

One of those titles for me is the Robinson run on Starman. #0 to 81, a few specials, a crossover with Sandman Mystery Theater, Shazam, Batman and Hellboy and a related Shade mini-series.

Jack Knight is buried in the ephemera of days gone by. 60 year old rayon Hawaiian shirts, vinyl albums, kewpie dolls. He has no interest in being a super-hero. That was his dad’s thing. His brother’s thing.

When his brother is killed and attempts are made on his father and himself, that ALL changes.

What follows is a wild ride enveloping the history of Opal City, every person to previously hold the name Starman, an amazingly touching take on Solomon Grundy, and one of my favorite “out of time” characters ever created, Bobo Benetti.

It’s not just Jack that’s the star of the book, the entire supporting cast of characters is phenomenal. Really, one of the best additions to comics lore.

Beautiful book. I only read it last year, but adored it. Read Robinson’s other work, but nothing equalled it. Great write-up, @jordanlund
