Partition was the stupidest decision ever. Not only did it create a new ethno-religious failing state, it also gave a thumbs-up to the RSS for a Hindu state, and so will it give a thumbs up to other religion-based separatist group in the future.

The Hindu and Muslim elites were overjoyed, because they have a reason to fool the masses with the invisible enemy. It also enabled a new flavour of brown imperialism in the form of Urdu/Hindi imposition, and destroyed the ultra-minority folk religion, language and culture in both countries.

It restricted the nomadic groups to the other part of the land, it displaced the natives from one land to another, and the terrorist religious group from Hindu Mahasabha, Sikh Akali Party and Muslim League National Guard raped, murdered and plundered.

The Indian communists and leftists were vehemently in opposition to this. They knew that this was a distraction, and in fact, benefited western imperialism.
