Somebody once told me that croatia looks like a crocodile eating Bosnia and I’ve never been able to unsee it.

Serious question, what’s it like on that ~4 km wide strip of land? It looks like a sleepy hamlet and not a heavy commercial loading dock

    At first I thought,

“so what? They’re all EU, borders are just a suggestion anyways”

Guess what, Bosnia is not part of EU, it’s only a candidate member. It isn’t even psrt of Shengen, so borders are very much a real thing.

Yeah it’s not a country blessed with tourist friendly beaches. Lots of shingle. Lots of coves. Amazing place though.

The Neum coast while being the only one belonging to BiH, most Bosnians travel nearly freely from the Herzegovina area to Croatia daily. From my experience, despite the country not being part of either the EU or Schengen, the border crossing is pretty lax and citizens don’t need a visa to enter neighbouring countries.

If you are an EU citizen you don’t even need a passport to enter or leave. Just an ID card.
