In the first episode there are a couple lines it seems he is trying his hardest to say as fast as possible. Still no one should be blaming the child in this situation

How is it trash? I’ve finished binging yesterday and to me is a great example on how to do a good adaptation. Really liked it and cannot wait until season 2

That review mentioned they only say the first episode only, I’m talking about the season in its entirety. I don’t agree with them in that the show tries to be dark and gritty, and in my opinion it’s quite the opposite. I found the themes and tone are much more similar to the OG series than people realise .

Edit: sorry I didn’t realise you wrote it! In that case I really recommend you finish watching it! I get that you didn’t like the first episode, but calling a script ‘trash’ when you haven’t even finished it won’t help me understand your opinions

I’m catching up and so far, at episode the tonal whiplash didn’t get better.

Changing Sokka’s Arc for the Kyoshi warriors to teenagers being horny… 🤢

And the tonal whiplash returned in episode 3 with rebels being burned alive in the beginning and that horribly cliche writing how Kitara got her groove back. 🙄

Blame not the actors, blame the directors and how the producers had the Avatar show runners and lost them.

Ultimately though, no live action will ever be as good as the original animation.

It is also the directors job to get good performances out of the actors. When directing a bunch of kids, they should have near line by line direction for tone and inflection, you can tell that didn’t happen, Sokka might be the most egregious example of that.

Most people simply don’t care about hentai. The avatar movie were just attempt to sell the franchise to wider audience

I must have watched a different show then cause I thought the acting in Avatar was fine overall. The main trio did well and Zuko was killing it. Also, I figure they’ll be fine either way considering that not even the kids in the movie-that-does-not-exist were harrassed as far as I know.

I’ve been rewatching Malcom in the Middle and have been impressed with the quality of the acting from the kids, especially Dewie. Not that he’s particularly better than the other kids, but he was younger and kept up with them. They could all hold their own with the likes of Cranston.

The only one that made it hard to suspend my disbelief was Jamie when he was first born, he wasn’t able to pull off newborn baby and looked like a month old at the youngest. But otherwise, he is playing a pretty believable baby.

I wonder what kind of special sauce the producers/directors of that show used that others with inferior child acting didn’t. Also curious if being on that show but acting decently meant those kids had a better time in school or if their peers were still assholes to them because they were famous.

And finally I wonder wtf is wrong with adults that harass child actors no matter how bad they played their role.
