LA PLATA, Mo. — A northeast Missouri police officer is charged with multiple sex crimes against girls.

Johnathon “John” Taylor, 34, of Macon, a police officer with the La Plata Police Department, was arrested Wednesday by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The arrest follows investigations by the Troop B Criminal Investigative Unit of the Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control.

In February 2021 and July 2022, the LaPlata Police Department requested the that the highway patrol investigate two separate allegations involving the sexual assault of minor females, reported to have been committed by Taylor.
