I have almost 3000 hours in TF2 all accumulated between 2007 and 2014.
I tried playing last week and I had no fucking clue what the fuck was going on anymore. I saw more items in use I’ve never heard of than anything I recognize. They also changed how a lot of the items I had worked like the Gunboats. I felt helpless and I did CAL Highlander for a few years back in the time period previously mentioned.

Watched “Emesis Blue” a couple days after it dropped & was expecting a fun romp!

Tl;dr, blu and red want more fighters, get machine that brings people back, it’s not perfect, and now people are remembering everything.
Evil corporations blu and red want to fuel the conflict more but don’t have the manpower, so they get scientists to create a device that can bring people back from the dead, the people they choose to use for this are criminals who would become the tf2 team(s). But the machine isn’t perfect. Everytime someone comes out, they’re different from the original version. Often the changes are so small they are unnoticeable or insignificant, but sometimes it’s a major change, the person may remember all they’re past lives, they may be suicidal or genocidal, and sometimes, what comes out isn’t even human. Years after the conflict, this is what happens to the scout, as they’re genome is altered and they have a disease or ailment that has dropped they’re iq and has made them incapable of doing certain tasks, so they are let off, but the scout goes back to see medic and ask him about some dreams he’s been having, which causes medic to start worrying as he knows what’s going on.
The medic takes scout back to his moms house where the scout questions how this could have happened to him, and medic tells scout about the risks of the machine and how it can affect you. Scout and medic make it to the house, scout goes in, a medic goes back to his office. Scout begins to talk to his mom when she stops responding and scout realizes someone else is in the house and it’s revealing his mom is dead. The medic is then called by an unknown figure who taunts the medic with a recording of his conversation with scout.
