The authors said on Twitter that they aren’t EA’s, but they surveyed people at valley AI companies to write the report, so it’s probably quite influenced by EAs.

They aren’t EAs? At least one of them literally has a profile on LW, as pointed out in the other thread about this.

But maybe they consider themselves to fall somewhere else in the TESCREAL acronym. There’s six more letters to choose from, after all.

The State Department? That unimpeachable organ of American governance?! Why, I don’t even know whether to trust them not to collude with shadowy corporations or not to be duped!

Am I getting old or are there way more acronyms to keep track of in the last like… month? What are EA’s?

Not everything is about your toy train world geopolitical supremacy and there are people far too rich and powerful to give a shit about it who benefit from your believing that it is

Believe me, I’m not even American: it’s just you, me, and everyone getting the shaft on all five other continents as well

What does that even mean, does AI have a nationality? And compete on what? Are we going to pit the USA AI against the French AI in a cage match?

When AI is finding zero days and tearing down firewalls, do you want to have a limited number of graphics processors running our defense?
