Really good poem. There’s so much shite “poetry” churned out and shared on the internet, it’s genuinely surprising to read a good poem. Forgot they could actually be written. Doesn’t even feel pretentious, which is particularly rare.
Mary Karr is an excellent poet and memoirist, her book The Liar’s Club is a must read! She’s one of my five favourite poets. I’m glad you like! And yes, there’s a lot of shit poetry out there. I cannot stand Bukowski for example.
