This extension helps users subscribed to Lemmy communities by adding an icon before mentions or URLs related to other communities. These mentions can be in the format “ [email protected] [email protected]” or through URLs like “https://lemmy.ml/c/memes”.

By clicking the icon, users are directed to the kbin URL of that community. However, there’s currently a bug preventing it from working on /kbin (ironically), and I’ve already reported the issue on Git.

I’m in the process of publishing the extension on Firefox and Chrome extension stores, along with making the source code available.

I would appreciate your input on whether you find this extension useful.

Works on lemmy instances. You specify your lemmy host in the preferences and it automatically adds a small icon before all addresses, both on communities and in threads/posts

Already a firefox extension https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/kbin-link/

it even added the icon to an address on github

yeh, its taken a step further because it adds the icon to body of posts etc as well as subscribe breadcrumbs etc.

Giving it permission on all sites its even working in the wild…

Nice, I was looking to develop something like this. I’ll test later. Can you add it to the community? If not I’ll do it later. Or we can ask the dev to post it. Idk if were still federated. I hear kbin temporarily defederated to deal with server issues?

i think kbin is defederated because they have cloudflare ddos protection on at the moment…

i was trying to cross post, but turns out crossposting a post on beehaw, thats actually from kbin is not really viable :D

And yeh, searching on !kbin [email protected] drawing a blank here

I don’t know if we need to do anything? It works as it stands, you just need to replace the “kbin.social” with the instance domain and that seems to do the trick.

Sorry I didn’t see we were already in the community. I’m having lunch and didn’t notice that lol. I’ll test later. Thanks!

I tested it, it currently doesn’t work, has a couple of bugs, doesn’t work on lemmy yet.
