should we create some rules/guidelines regarding AI generated content?

She is extending their arms, showcasing a playful or welcoming gesture. Terrifying how I couldn’t tell immediately. Would prefer a hard no AI rule to be honest, but I also know that most would proooobably prefer something softer

I’m leaning to no AI, I would rather support real artists over generated content and I’m worried about AI in general. But I want rules to not reflect anyones opinions (be objective) and be not unnecessarily restrictive.

I couldn’t tell that it’s generated. After knowing the fact I looked more carefully and noticed that left strap on mask probably should have been under hair but it looks broken. Hands are cleverly hidden out of sight.

May I suggest a rule such as “AI is only allowed if the program used to generate the image has its training data Ethically and Consentually sourced. If the source of the image cannot be determined, its not allowed.”? That would pretty much kill all AI images while technically not forbidding it, while also giving the reason for it right in the rule itself.

Yeah I struggled to see an issue with the image. Its absolutely horrifying that its gotten this hard to be seeable.

I will add a rule to flag AI content as such. I think more rules regarding AI aren’t required right now, because nobody will post it again in a while. Otherwise we will come back to this discussion.

Thanks for the input! @[email protected] @zeograd

I already did that. See rule 2 section 2. Or do you mean something else?

At minimum, I’d say that it would be explicitly flagged (like you did).

But considered our current community size (and posters pool size), I think that we have enough non-AI content to share, and there’s no point in trying to make room for it. So we could easily go on an AI ban, or limit to 1 / week / user (still flagged as such), it still wouldn’t make a difference at this point.

Maybe we could go the easiest way, mod-wise, in allowing it if flagged, and we can revise rules if it becomes an issue later.

Oh hey, I remember posting this. It’s sad to see fear around generative works is still this pervasive, and the prejudiced treatment of such content. Touhou has a huge generative art community, and interacting with them really reignited my passion for the series.

I hope it’s fine if post any other nice gens I find.

As far as I know, AI models are reusing someone elses art whether author agree with it or not and without crediting. But yeah peoples are learning from each others works too and authors don’t get mad at peoples that might got inspired by their art and drew their own picture. I’m not sure whether comparison of these two situation is valid, because I don’t know how AI models work in details.

Currently such works aren’t prohibited by rules.

The story that it reuses people’s art isn’t how it works. You should check out this article by Kit Walsh, a senior staff attorney at the EFF. She does a good job at explaining what’s going on.
