I found mine at the right end of the URL bar.

Alternatively, you can type ( read: ) before the https:// to enter immersive reader mode.

Why the downvotes? It’s something the OP learned today. It’s nothing inherently new, but why does it matter? That’s what this community is literally about.

Yarly, I can only use edge inside the work environment and I was missing this functionality from Firefox. Thanks, OP. e: autocorrect.

Friends don’t let friends use Edge.

Edge collects your browsing data and sends it to Microsoft. Including spying on all of your internet searches, and which search results you click on, in order to train Bing. You can opt out of some of this, but then these options mysteriously and randomly get turned back on. It’s invasive. Privacy should be the default.

Use Firefox or use de-Goggled Chromium. Both have every plugin to do everything you could ever want. Firefox has had a “reading view” button for years.

Although I get that some people have to use edge at work, positive posts about megacorp product without a disclaimer isnt getting any love from me either.

I have a strong feeling that you will not believe me when I say I use Edge as my daily diver vs Google Chrome now.

As for the disclaimer, there isn’t a rule against sharing TILs about corporations, their products, or services.

I get that you are weary of corporations using bots or people to influence others to buy, subscribe, or use their things. But… idk… this isn’t Reddit. So why would they care about doing so on Lemmy.World?

I understand your pov. Its all fine. My opinion is just that, my opinion.

Edge is imo just the same as chrome but I would never tell you to use something else except if you asked. Feel free to elaborate what makes edge better than alternatives.

The disclaimer was an idea. Im not a mod and I dont make the rules here. Dont worry.

I‘m not weary about corporations, I‘m livid. (Mega) Corporations are destroying our planet and our future as we speak. The fedi is the antithesis to it.

I also dont think youre a bot. I‘m totally okay with this being your opinon. I will still say that there is evidence that using corpo browsers is having your data mined - besides many other downsides.

There are many incidences on record where big corporations tried to influence the public opinon. This is not reddit but it doesnt make it less possible, in the contrary in fact. Reddit is able to out in regex filters to shadowban content about the fediverse, which has happened. We cant do this, which is good but it means we cant keep out such campaigns either.

So again, I‘m happy to debate this with you. Have a nice day.

Safari and Firefox also have this, and since Edge is a Chrome fork Chrome also has this. I’m pretty sure every major browser except for Amazon’s shitty TV fork that’s great at everything except web rendering has this.
