The U.S. ambassador to Russia on March 29 issued an unusual diplomatic statement refuting Russian government claims about information that the United States shared with Russia ahead of the terrorist attack last week on a concert hall outside Moscow that killed more than 140 people.

Ambassador Lynne Tracy said several Russian officials had “misrepresented and publicly dismissed” the usefulness of information passed on to Russian security services earlier this month related to threats from the Islamic State, which claimed responsibility for the attack soon after it was over.

In the statement, Tracy reiterated that the information shared with Russian authorities was in writing and was specific, timely, and credible.

Honestly I’ve seen zero evidence that the “information shared… was specific”

Not a single credible news source has reported that.

Not being a dick, just wondering what they mean by “specific”

“It’s highly likely there will be a terrorist attack at some point soon” wouldn’t carry much weight if the russkis said it to the yanks, let’s face it

You think they’d divulge the intelligence report, thus potentially exposing their sources, to settle Internet arguments?

If it was internal to the US after the investigation when all the involved parties were identified, a la 9/11, then I would expect it. But not in international relations.

I mean we don’t know the nature of the intelligence, so take state department statements with a grain of salt but I’m not sure why you would assume it was that vague.

Well, it doesn’t matter what intelligence US shared with Russia on beforehand. Russia already knew it was Ukraine long before even ISIS planned the attack…
