This is the best summary I could come up with:

In an update on Monday, YouTube writes that users accessing videos through a third-party ad blocking app may encounter buffering issues or see an error message that reads, “The following content is not available on this app.”

It also began disabling videos for users with an ad blocking extension enabled.

But now, YouTube says its policies don’t allow “third-party apps to turn off ads because that prevents the creator from being rewarded for viewership.” The block targets third-party apps that use YouTube’s API to get videos interruption-free.

AdGuard says it’s not affected by the change since its app doesn’t use YouTube’s API.

“When we find an app that violates these terms, we will take appropriate action to protect our platform, creators, and viewers.”

This likely won’t come as pleasant news to all the users who watch YouTube through ad blocking apps, but it doesn’t look like YouTube is backing down in its battle against ad blockers anytime soon.

The original article contains 233 words, the summary contains 158 words. Saved 32%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!

That wont necessarily save it, my impression was that google was going to attempt to heuristically detect other yt interfaces and mess with them. I.e: “You keep downloading video data, but havent hit our ad endpoint at all, gtfo”

Revanced should be pretty safe since its basically a mod and therefore should contain the original Google API

But of they do that they get problems with eu, they already got into trouble for that “your adblocker is not allowed” stuff they did…

Revanced would hit the same heuristic i described. We will have to see how it all shakes out, although my bet is on some temporary interuptions, followed by the apps working around them.
