    “Go investigate yourself.”

…is… is that supposed to be a western liberal tough talk or something? Performative parenting at its worst.

“We are continuing to press them for additional information.”

“But why not why not have an independent forensic investigation, which the Palestinians are calling for?”

As Hunter Thompson said, to ask the question is to answer the question.

They cant seem to get off the “israel said so” train. Refusing to even consider an alternative. Is there no way to get a different member of the international community involved enough to run such an independent examination? Or is everyone else sitting on the fence watching to see how yhe play ends?

According to this article, IDF claims the dead were buried there by Palestinians, the mass grave was checked by IDF for hostages’ remains, then re-buried, and IDF does not tend to Palestinian remains in Gaza:

The Israel Defense Forces on Tuesday rejected Hamas’s allegation as “baseless.”
It said forces searching for Israeli hostages had examined bodies previously buried by Palestinians near Nasser Hospital and had returned the bodies to where they were buried after they were examined.
It has been documented that Palestinians buried their dead at the hospital grounds both before and while Israeli troops operated in the area.
The location of that burial site was geo-located by experts to the same location where Hamas officials claimed to have discovered the new mass grave.
Generally, the IDF does not tend to the bodies of slain Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. …
The United Nations rights office claimed that some of the bodies were “found with their hands tied and stripped of their clothes.”
The IDF, in its response, said that during its operation in the area of Nasser Hospital in recent months, troops examined corpses that had been buried by Palestinians on the medical center’s grounds, “as part of an effort to locate hostages.”
The military said it operated in a “targeted manner,” only where it had intelligence that Israeli hostages may have been buried.

Curious if there is anything to this or if it is just another false allegation.

Some of them were buried with their arms tied behind their backs, or otherwise had evidence of summary executions.

That’s… A shitload of copium. Like seriously, I know you’re shilling for the IDF but you can do better. I doubt Hamas has killed 400 Gazans in their whole history.

Even if you don’t want to hear it, nothing I wrote was inaccurate.

Sources I’ve read said some of the bodies were reported as bound, not all 400. Many may just be victims of war/ collateral damage/ normal hospital deaths.

I know; but the conclusion is frankly ridiculous. First of all you do realize that the mass grave didn’t exist prior to the IDF arriving right? Hamas was fighting a was before that thing was discovered and had no chance to occupy anywhere and cause this much damage. The IDF would’ve blown the whole place to oblivion instead of piecemeal bombing it like they did. And second, they were bound using plastic bindings the IDF uses to cuff its prisoners. And third, many were also covered in plastic and hastily buried. Again, something only the IDF would do.

It’s an IDF-made mass grave, no two ways about it.

Who is going to let another country investigate their Military during an ongoing war? Isreal has to be the one to provide the reports its not that unexpected or out of the ordinary.

If they want our weapons they can submit to our investigations.

I think the us values the billion dollar arms contracts over preserving the quality of this investigation. It sucks because Biden can’t even be pressured with voting because the otherside has a worse stance.

The other side will always have a worse stance on everything, that means you can never pressure the Dems. That’s not a good enough reason.

You can pressure them 100% I’m not trying to stop you there. but I don’t think many people are not voting or changing their votes over this issue. I think the dems know this and know they don’t have to change their stance.

Do you think this is a fair assessment?

That’s fair, if they think they can risk it that’s on them.

I’d hope they would cater to voters and try to win them over, but I guess this election isn’t too serious for them to care.

That’s a fine attitude for penne ante stuff. But this is emergent and killing thousands of people right in front of us. We either pressure him or throw our values out the window anyways.

They should be forced to let independent investigators investigate whatever Israel like it or not. There is investigations in ukraine during the war. Not even russia allies would say russia should investigate themselves

Without US support Israel would cease to exist within a year, so the US can do whatever it pleases. Second, the investigation does not need to be performed by a military but can also be done by neutral observers.

Do you have other specific examples? Preferably with sources. As a layman it’s very unexpected, I’d like to learn more.

I don’t have any examples but I would change my stance if there were examples of countries letting others investigate their military in the middle of a war.

A bit different (since there was no war yet and it wasn’t about the military) but after the assassination of Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo, Austria requested to send their own police to investigate the case around the “Black Hand” (the terror organisation that assassinated him).

It really isn’t unusual for countries to deny foreign investigation.

That particular denial cascaded into a string of events that wiped out nearly a generation of people.
