This was my first time catching a perch and eating it too.

    Nice one!

I caught two nice perch yesterday on a kayak trip, but not quite as big as that one.

Try using a slightly smaller hook and bait piece and you’ll likely pick up more perch in the same location, but smaller. In my experience they often tend to be a strongly schooling fish, meaning where there’s one, there’s often ten or more!

I’m fairly new to fishing and I’ve been mostly targeting trout with lures, so I’m trying to pick up tips, so thank you! I got a medium power and action rod as a hand-me-down that I was thinking of setting up for targeting bigger fish, can ya tell me how you’re targeting perch? Like where to look and so on?

Hi, I’m new too and I don’t know much about the language or technicality of it. I got this perch in a small lake/pond off the shore, using a bobber and putting the shrimp down about 2.5 feet, with a medium sized hook around 7 pm. I was more trying to get a catfish, I didn’t even know there was perch in this lake.
