Whatever this art treatment is, I find it very hit and miss. Some cards look beautiful with it, and some look pretty bland and flat.

I love these new versions of Azusa and Urza, but the new Kozilek, Ulamog, and Selvala don’t quite do it for me. I’m not sure if it has to do with the expression, or how you don’t get a proper sense of scale from these side profiles, or the poses, or even the exact colors chosen for the backgrounds.
